Appeals court strikes down OC sex offender ban at beaches, parks

LOS ANGELES

The sex offender restrictions were passed in 2011 and are on the books in 15 Orange County cities. They required sex offenders to get written permission from the sheriff to go to parks and beaches.

A panel of court judges on Friday ruled that those regulations conflicted with state law.

State law bans parolees of some serious sex offenses involving victims younger than 14 from entering parks.
