A 16-year-old girl walking home from Mira Costa High School at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday noticed an older-model yellow Mercedes-Benz sedan following her. The car stopped at the 1400 block of 19th Street and the driver continued to watch her, according to Manhattan Beach Police. She crossed the street and hid at her neighbor's house, and police were called. Responding officers did not locate the vehicle or the suspect.
An hour later police received a similar report from the area of the 100 block of South Rowell Avenue. A 14-year-old girl walking home from Mira Costa High was being followed by a man in a car that matched the earlier incident, according to Manhattan Beach Police. She hid in a back yard of a nearby residence until the driver left the area.
An officer monitoring traffic stopped a car matching the suspect-vehicle description on the 1900 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Shereston, on charges of child annoyance and stalking. He was booked at the Manhattan Beach Police Department jail and released on citation. He was scheduled for a March 10, 2014 court appearance.
