Judge reinstates Nicollette Sheridan lawsuit

LOS ANGELES

Sheridan alleged she was assaulted by "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry, and that her character was killed off the show when she complained.

A jury deadlocked 8-4 in her favor in March 2012.

The ruling on Wednesday could lead to a new trial on her claim that she was improperly ousted from the show. An attorney for Touchstone, the show's producer, told the judge he is likely to appeal.

Cherry has denied the claim and been dismissed from the legal action.

Sheridan's lawyer David Crochetiere says he is pleased with the ruling and believes it will allow the actress to have her day in court.
