The incident occurred near Mulberry Drive and Gunn Avenue at 12:45 a.m. after a helicopter located the stolen vehicle.
Responding officers found the vehicle, which had been abandoned, and shortly located one of the suspects in an apartment complex in the 14100 block of Mulberry Drive. He was armed with a handgun.
An officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was shot in the left arm and rushed to a local hospital in stable condition.
No officers were hurt.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives were assisting Whittier police in the investigation.
