Motel 6 fire in Orange leaves woman in critical condition

A woman was in critical condition after being rescued from a burning motel room in the city of Orange.

The blaze erupted at approximately 9 p.m. Friday at the Motel 6 on the 2900 block of Chapman Avenue.

Firefighters broke into the burning room and found the unconscious woman inside. She was rushed to an area hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Fire officials say the blaze was confined to the single room and quickly extinguished.

There was no word on what caused the fire, but arson investigators were called in to take a closer look.
