Girl waiting for school bus attacked by dog

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif.

The husky mix bit the girl in the face at least once, possibly twice, at the corner of 7th Street and West Drive around 8 a.m., according to officials. The girl's mother rushed her to the Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The dog was located in a yard and taken to the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms, where it was impounded and quarantined.

Officials say the girl may have been petting the dog when the dog suddenly bit her. It's not yet clear if the dog owner will be cited for allowing the dog to roam freely.
