Good Samaritan sought for helping rescue unconscious surfer

OXNARD, Calif.

A male surfer was knocked unconscious Saturday morning off Mandalay Beach in Oxnard and was reportedly not breathing for several minutes.

Two people paddled out and brought the unconscious man to shore. One of the two rescuers, retired LAUSD police chief Lawrence Manion, administered CPR to the man with the help of the unidentified woman.

Police want to find the other person, an unidentified woman, to thank her for helping save the unconscious surfer.

The surfer was recovering at a hospital.
