Odor sparks evacuations in San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.

Authorities say more than a dozen people near Del Rosa Drive and Highland Avenue reported a gasoline-like smell. The odor appeared to be coming from storm drains in the area.

Crews closed a two-mile stretch of Del Rosa Drive to investigate, combing the area with handheld monitors to find the source of the smell.

Nothing was found, and Del Rosa Drive was later reopened after readings showed the fumes had dissipated.
