Tustin officer-involved shooting: Suspect hospitalized

TUSTIN, Calif.

Tustin Police were reportedly dispatched to a residence near Newport and Sycamore avenues about a family disturbance at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. A gunshot was allegedly fired by a man at the residence who fled with a gun before officers arrived.

Officers found that no one was shot. During the investigation at the location, the suspect reportedly returned in a vehicle at about 6 p.m.

"There was an officer-involved shooting but it appears the suspect's wound was self-inflicted," said Tustin Police Sgt. Stephanie Nichols.

The man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. He was listed in stable condition Monday. No officers were injured.

Witnesses said an SUV in the street had bullet holes in it.

The Orange County District Attorney's Office was investigating the incident.
