Southern California Gas Company says the line ruptured Thursday afternoon on the 4700 block of West Don Zarembo Drive.
It happened when a contractor was trying to install a sewer line in the area, but that contractor was not hired by Southern California Gas Company.
No one was evacuated, but residents reported a strong smell of gas.
