A crash between an empty milk tanker truck and a vehicle shut down multiple northbound lanes on the 5 Freeway in the Castaic area early Wednesday morning.

The collision occurred shortly before 5 a.m. north of Lake Hughes Road. The crash resulted in an oil spill.

All northbound lanes were initially shut down, but California Highway Patrol officials reopened one lane at about 5:30 a.m. The other lanes remained closed as crews worked to clean the roadway. At one point, northbound traffic was backed up to Hasley Canyon Road.

All lanes have since reopened.

No injuries were reported.
