The remains were found Saturday morning in a ravine near the intersection of State Route 138 and Old Ridge Route Road.
Investigators believe he was a victim of foul play and was at the location up to four years.
Investigators say the man did not die in the Pine Fire, which broke out Friday. It was fully contained Sunday morning.
