Authorities say the incident began just after 10 p.m. Monday at a home near Mason Avenue and Hart Street. Police believed the woman was armed and possibly suicidal.
Several homes were evacuated as a precaution.
Just before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, the woman was taken into custody without further incident. She was taken to a local hospital to be examined.
Police say a gun was found inside the home. According to a family member, the suspect was a former member of law enforcement.
