Michael Valentino, 27, was identified by coroner's officials on Tuesday night. Police have not determined if he shot himself or was killed by officers.
LAPD received a domestic violence call Monday in the 8100 block of Gould Avenue. When officers arrived, Valentino and the officers exchanged fire, LAPD officials said.
Hours later, police entered the house and found Valentino's body.
A female officer was hit by either bullet fragments or debris, and remains in stable condition at a hospital.
