Hollywood Premiere Supper Club shooting leaves man dead

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES

The shooting occurred outside of Premiere Supper Club near Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue just before 2 a.m.

According to officers, an altercation inside the club spilled out onto the street as the club was closing. Surveillance video from a nearby business shows the victim walking south on Las Palmas. The victim approached a car with three to four men inside, and punched the driver in the face. That's when someone inside the car shot the victim, and the car sped off. The black, four-door sedan was seen swerving around other cars waiting at the light in order to make its getaway.

That video is not being released at this time to avoid compromising the police investigation.

The 38-year-old victim, identified as a black male, was shot in the torso and rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He succumbed to his injuries during surgery.

Police say the victim and the suspects were from rival gangs. It is unclear exactly what the altercation was all about.

No arrests have been made. Descriptions of the suspects have not been released.

"Many of the witnesses left the location, and we do need help from the public," said Los Angeles police Lt. John Radtke.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information was urged to contact police at (213) 382-9470.
