Suspect in Azusa search found dead, officials say

AZUSA, Calif.

The circumstances surrounding the suspect's death have not been released. The supsect's name has also not been released.

As police with guns drawn searched for a possible armed suspect, Jonah Chen started shooting video from the second floor of his unit. His camera captured the suspect jumping onto a roof. The video shows the suspect's feet as he lands. Residents say the suspect's mother lives in the Sierra Palms condo complex.

People who live on the south side of Silver Maple Drive were allowed to return to their homes, Azusa police said on Twitter. Residents who live on Pepper Tree Drive were not immediately allowed back home.

Some residents left as the police activity began to intensify and hoped to return home hours later, but were turned away.

"I'd rather be safe than sorry, and that's just the truth," said resident Linda Daggett.

Azusa police have handed over the case to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
