A collision between a Honda and a Nissan at the center divider on the freeway was reported just after 5:30 a.m. near the Cedar Avenue ramp, causing traffic to slow. Another red van carrying 10 people subsequently lost control and rolled off the freeway into a concrete drainage.
Three suffered major injuries and six others suffered minor injuries.
Traffic was moving almost back to normal at around 9 a.m.
