Hugo Gonzalez, 27, a registered sex offender convicted in 2011 for sex with a minor, was arrested again on April 9, 2014.
Gonzalez used the website MeetMe.com to again meet with minors early this year. He used the Kik messenger app to chat with two 15-year-old females. Gonzalez eventually met with the minors, allegedly provided them alcohol and had sex with one of the underage girls, police said.
Gonzalez was arrested in 2010 for having sex with a minor after befriending a minor on Myspace. The investigation showed Gonzalez claimed he was 19 years old, arranged a meeting with and had sex with a 14-year-old minor. He was convicted in federal court in June 2011 for the use of a computer to entice a minor to engage in any sexual activity.
In the latest case, Gonzalez told the minors that he was 23 years old. A picture sent to the minors assisted detectives in identifying Gonzalez. In both cases he used an alias.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office filed seven felony counts against Gonzalez and two misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to minors. He is currently being held in Los Angeles County Jail on $245,000 bail and awaiting his preliminary hearing.
Gonzalez spent a year in federal prison for the 2010 conviction. He was released in 2012, and police believe there may be victims between then and now.
