Columbus Short, who plays Harrison Wright on ABC's "Scandal," confirmed he is exiting the series in a statement released on Friday, April 25.

"At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today," Short said in his statement. "I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the 'Scandal' series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it."

"Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas," he added. "I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful."

ABC had no immediate comment on the matter.

Spoiler alert for those who have not seen the season 3 finale of "Scandal." In the last few minutes of the big finale viewers last saw Harrison facing the barrel of a gun, which was pointed at him by secret service agent Tom Larson (Brian Letscher), who was being ordered by none other than Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) father, the reinstated B-613 head Rowan Pope (Joe Morton). Short has been a member of the series since its pilot episode. The announcement comes just weeks after Short's wife, Tuere Short, received a temporary restraining order against him, claiming he threatened to kill her with a knife and commit suicide during an argument on April 7, according to Entertainment Weekly. She has since filed for divorce. The couple has a two-year-old daughter named Ayala.

In February, Short was charged with misdemeanor spousal battery after a confrontation with his wife and was ordered to stay away from her. He has denied any wrongdoing. In March, Short was arrested on suspicion of felony battery after allegedly punching a man at a restaurant in Los Angeles.
