Bruno, the heroic police dog, has officially retired. He got a big sendoff Tuesday at the Anaheim City Council meeting.

Bruno made a miraculous recovery after being shot while on the job for the Anaheim Police Department in March. The 7-year-old German Shepherd is credited with saving the lives of three officers, including his partner.

Bruno suffered a shattered jaw and a collapsed lung. After a long hospitalization, he was released earlier this month.

"He'll be home with me from now on. He'll be with me for the rest of his life, enjoying long lazy days on his comfy beds and running around the backyard with his toys," said his handler, Officer R.J. Young.

Young says Bruno's recovery is nothing short of a miracle.
