Santa Monica releases first ever well-being index
Santa Monica is one of the first cities to research the well-being of its residents and try to improve upon what matters most to them.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) -- Most would describe Santa Monica as having beautiful beaches, green parks, and healthy living.

Recently, real estate blog Movoto rated Santa Monica second on the Top 10 list of America's Most Stressed-out Suburbs.

In response, Santa Monica city officials have released "The Wellbeing Project," an 18-month long plan with the Rand Corporation to measure five key categories of livability for residents.

This gives local government an opportunity to focus on what matters the most to local residents.

The project's future plan is to have organized events for residents to get involved in the Santa Monica community.
