BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles police were investigating a fiery crash in Boyle Heights that left the driver dead early Sunday.

Police said just before 3:30 a.m., a car crashed into a pole at Olympic Boulevard and Lorena Street and caught fire, causing the driver to be trapped inside.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities from the LAPD.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, but authorities said street racing may have been a factor.

The crash remained under investigation.
