LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Kmart is closing multiple stores across the country - including four in California.

The closing California stores include locations in Anaheim, Citrus Heights, Chula Vista and San Mateo.

A spokesman for Sears Holdings, which owns Kmart, said the closures are part of a cost-cutting plan.

Over 400 workers will be affected by the closure. Eligible employees will get severance packages, and they can also apply for open jobs at Sears and other Kmart stores.
