NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (KABC) -- The FBI has joined the search for a missing Cal State Northridge student, who vanished last month after selling his car on Craigslist.

The LAPD confirmed Thursday that the FBI is investigating the disappearance of 23-year-old Abdullah Alkadi, an electrical engineering student who was reported missing by his brother on Sept. 18.

Alkadi was last seen selling his car on Craigslist. His brother, Ahmad Alkadi, said he traced his brother's phone to Beaumont, a place Abdullah Alkadi has no ties with.

Originally from Saudi Arabia, Abdullah Alkadi has been in the U.S. for nearly four years. According to the Daily News, the FBI expressed interest because he's a foreign student.

Police say they already talked to the new owner of Abdullah Alkadi's car. Authorities believe the case to be suspicious.
