Strong winds put surrounding communities near Porter Ranch on edge
Porter Ranch has been free of fire, but concern remains strong winds intensifying could increase danger for fire ravaged communities near the neighborhood.

PORTER RANCH, Calif. (KABC) -- Porter Ranch has been free of fire, but concern remains strong winds intensifying could increase danger for fire ravaged communities near the neighborhood.

Sustained wind speeds are expected to reach at least 40 mph, and it is expected to factor into the fight to contain the nearby Woolsey Fire.

"My cousins actually live nearby, they thankfully weren't evacuated, but we were really worried about them," Megan Krasnoshtein said. "They sent us a picture and they could see the whole horizon of fires."

A wind warning is in effect until Tuesday evening, which could affect trees and power lines.

Drivers are urged to be cautious because a high wind warning can cause hazardous warning conditions.
