POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people were killed after a car crashed into a tree and split in half in Pomona early Saturday morning.

The car crashed into the tree around 4 a.m. near the intersection of Mission Boulevard and East End Avenue. The driver and a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Mission Boulevard was closed during the investigation, and the cause of the crash is unknown.
