HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Authorities were involved in a high-speed pursuit of a white Mercedes in Hollywood on Thursday night.

Burbank police say their helicopter spotted a reckless driver on the 134 Freeway in Glendale. They tried to stop the suspect at about 8:45 p.m. at Cahuenga Boulevard, but the driver sped off.

Los Angeles police took over and began following the car with helicopters through Universal City. The suspect briefly pulled into a Universal City Walk parking lot before speeding off onto the southbound 101 Freeway.

The car then exited on Highland Avenue onto Hollywood streets.

At one point, the suspect parked in a neighborhood and attempted to flee on foot, before getting back into the car and driving off.

Minutes later, the suspect drove underneath the 101 Freeway overpass on Normandie Boulevard and bailed on foot. LAPD officers pulled up and surrounded the suspect at gunpoint.

The suspect was quickly taken into custody shortly after 9 p.m.
