The Chevrolet Bolt EV was named the Green Car of the Year by the Green Car Journal, an announcement which was made at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- For those looking to reduce their carbon footprint and enjoy a nice ride, the Chevrolet Bolt EV may be the car for you.

The Green Car Journal announced the Bolt EV was its 2017 Green Car of the Year at the Los Angeles Auto Show on Thursday.

"Here's a car that is here now and it's over 230 miles estimated by EPA. It's a great car. It's fun to drive. It's very functional because it's a small crossover SUV," Ron Cogan with the Green Car Journal said.

The Bolt EV, which runs about $30,000, was also named Motor Trend's 2017 Car of the Year.
