SAN PEDRO, Calif. (KABC) -- The U.S. Navy's Fleet Week celebration kicks off Friday in San Pedro and some of the guests of honor have already arrived.

The USS Dewey made its way into the Port of Los Angeles Wednesday morning. The guided missile destroyer is one of many U.S. and Canadian ships expected to take part in the weekend festivities.

Fleet Week is free and open to the public. It gives civilians the chance to tour some of the Navy's ships.

This is the second year that Los Angeles has hosted the event.
