COSTA MESA, Calif. (KABC) -- An 11-year-old boy with autism who was reported missing in Costa Mesa has been found, according to Costa Mesa police.

Santa Ana police say a resident saw the story about missing Diego Garcia, then saw a child who looked like Diego walking near Fairview Street and Edinger Avenue and called police.

Diego Garcia was discovered to be missing by his mother at about 6:30 a.m. on Monday.

"There's no us without him, so we need him back," Aline Garcia, Diego's mother said.

Diego's family was worried because they said he has limited communication skills.

"I mean you ask, 'What's your name,' he will tell you his name. He will tell you where he lives, he even might tell you my phone number," Aline Garcia explained.

Friends and family helped in the search by putting up missing posters in the area and speaking with neighbors.
