Wilson made his first public statements Tuesday during an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulos tweeted that he interviewed Wilson for one hour. It aired Tuesday on ABC World News Tonight with David Muir.

Wilson told ABC News that he did not execute Brown but was in fear for his life and was just doing his job. This is the first interview that Wilson has granted since the August 9 shooting. Wilson had been out of the public eye following the death of Michael Brown on August 9. The officer released a statement yesterday after the grand jury announcement was read to the public.
He told Stephanopoulos he has a clean conscience because "I know I did my job right."
Wilson was placed on leave Aug. 9, the day the white officer fatally shot Brown, who was unarmed and black.
Wilson had been with the Ferguson police force for less than three years before the shooting. He told Stephanopoulos that Brown's shooting marked the first time he had used his gun.
It was also revealed that Wilson had gotten married on October 24 to Barbara Spradling.
