Suspect attempts to rob elderly woman outside Denny's in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An armed woman was arrested after attempting to rob an elderly woman in the parking lot of a Denny's restaurant in Wilmington Wednesday night, authorities said.

The incident occurred outside the restaurant in the 1400 block of W. Pacific Coast Highway at about 10:45 p.m.

Los Angeles police said the intended victim did not have her hearing aids in and did not understand what was going on.

The suspect allegedly pulled the elderly woman out of her vehicle and held her at knifepoint. Witnesses then got involved and held the suspect down until police arrived.

Both the suspect and victim were slightly injured. The suspect is now facing assault with a deadly weapon charges.
