Sheriff's deputy shot while serving warrant in South El Monte
A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy was shot and wounded while serving a search warrant in South El Monte Thursday morning, authorities said.

SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) -- A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy shot himself in the lower leg while serving a search warrant in South El Monte Thursday morning, authorities said.

The narcotics deputy was transported to a hospital after the incident, which took place about 5:30 a.m. in the 11200 block of Broadmead Street, sheriff's officials said. His injuries were described as minor.

Three suspects were taken into custody. Their identities and possible charges were not immediately disclosed.

No other weapons were fired, investigators said.
