HOUSTON (KABC) -- An elaborate robbery plot at a dollar store in Houston, Texas, ended up failing miserably, and it was all caught on camera.
Police say two men went to a Family Dollar store near closing time, pretending to be shoppers. One the men walked over to a lower shelf containing boxes of garbage bags. He removed the boxes and crawled onto the shelf. The other suspect then came along and put the boxes back to conceal his partner in crime.
Authorities said the man who restocked the shelf bought paper plates and candy, and left. The man on the shelf waited for two hours until the store closed.
As soon as the man came out of hiding, he tripped a motion sensor, set off an alarm, and ran out the backdoor, empty-handed.
