DOWNEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A Downey resident fled his home Friday afternoon after being confronted by three people attempting to rob his home.

Two men in their mid-20s carrying handguns and a woman in her mid-20s walked up to the resident's front door, entered the home and demanded money, the victim told authorities. The victim ran out of the house and called 911.

Downey police arrived about two minutes later and set up a containment near Brunache Street and Horton Avenue.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Special Enforcement Bureau also responded to the scene. Deputies entered the home, but the suspects had fled.

It was unclear if any property had been stolen. No vehicles were seen arriving or leaving the residence.

Old River Elementary School and Stauffer Middle School were both on lockdown around 1:20 p.m. because of the search, which was several blocks away. Students have since been released from school.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Downey Police Department at (562) 904-2308.
