3 charged with murder, other felonies in Downey home-invasion robbery

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two men and a teenager were charged with felony counts of murder, home-invasion robbery and first-degree burglary with a person present Wednesday.

Paul Darvis Misikei, 19, Henry Willie Sao, 28, and 17-year-old Sakaopo Atanasio Folau were each charged with the three counts. The counts also carry special circumstance allegations that the trio committed the murder during the course of a robbery and residential burglary.

The felony complaint against the two men and teen also includes a special allegation that the three committed great bodily injury upon the victim while they committed the crime.

The men and teenager are suspected of breaking into a Downey house and killing the homeowner on Sunday afternoon.

During the investigation, Downey police believe the three suspects targeted the home of Jim Rudometkin, a 59-year-old real estate agent.

Neighbors in the area said they saw two of the victims force their way into Rudometkin's home and then a third suspect entered a short time later. The neighbor called 911, and the suspects attempted to flee.

Authorities quickly apprehended Misikei and Sao not far from the scene. Folau was able to evade police until his arrest on Tuesday.

If convicted, Misikei and Sao could face the death penalty if prosecutors decide to seek it. Because Folau is a minor, he faces up to life in prison.
