LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One in 10 California State University students are homeless, and one in five don't have steady access to enough food, according to a study released by the state university system on Tuesday.
Researchers conducted interviews and sent out surveys, but still said homelessness in higher education is difficult to measure.
Officials said students aren't required to report unstable housing conditions, and many don't seek help because of the shame associated with homelessness.
California State University is the largest public university system in the country, with 460,000 students across 23 campuses.
