LA school leaders pledge to raise high school grad rate to 100 percent

Unexpected alliances formed as city and school leaders united in a pledge to raise the high school graduation rate to 100%. (KABC)

The superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District, Michelle King, and the president of the United Teachers Los Angeles Union unexpectedly teamed together with the goal to raise the graduation rate for their students to 100 percent.

They joined the school board, colleges, business leaders and mayor in LA Compact, an education initiative which began nearly a decade ago.
