LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Los Angeles Unified School District is making sure the air-conditioning is up and running so students are cool and comfortable on the first day of class.
First day of school for most LAUSD schools is Tuesday, Aug. 18. Ahead of the big day, technicians at schools, including Widney Career and Transition Center, are making sure their cooling systems are in good working order.
With more than 900 school sites and 30,000 classrooms, maintaining the schools' air-conditioning systems is no small feat - especially following the warmest stretch of weather the Southland has seen this year.
