Investigation underway after man shot in El Monte

EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a man in his 40s in El Monte.

The shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. in the 11400 block of Montecito Drive. When police arrived, they found the man suffering a gunshot wound to his upper body.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was no suspect information available. It was unclear if the shooting was gang related.

The investigation was ongoing.
