LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Actress Katy Mixon is thrilled to be back for season two of her sitcom, "American Housewife" and says "real" Katy is very different from television Katie, but they do share one common thread.

"If she's going to do it, she's going to do it with gusto, and I've got that same thing, do you feel me?" Mixon said. "We just go about it different ways."

Katy's "all in" attitude helped to make the show a hit as now it is moving to a prime timeslot, Wednesday nights on ABC after "Modern Family".

"When you know you've believed in something and then other people relate to it and accept it, and get on the train, it's really, really special," Mixon said.

Her on-screen alter ego is mom to three adorable but demanding children, while Mixon herself, who was pregnant through the first season, just joined the motherhood ranks this summer.

She said being a new mother is a humbling experience and has definitely changed her. She said she realized she did not have all the answers to parenting.

"I come from a family of nine -- six girls and one boy, so I watched my Mom do it," Mixon said. "It's a whole other situation when you're doing it yourself."

Mixon said that motherly instinct is very real and it is an incredible experience when it comes into play.

"American Housewife" debuts in its new time period on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
