Emily Blunt steps into big role in 'Mary Poppins Returns'
Emily Blunt worked hard to make sure she left her own stamp on the larger-than-life character in "Mary Poppins Returns."

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- "Mary Poppins" enchanted audiences all around the world in 1964. It starred Julie Andrews, who won an Academy Award for playing the title role.

Now 54 years later, Emily Blunt has stepped in to play the iconic character, and is already earning Screen Actors Guild, Critics' Choice and Golden Globe nominations.

Blunt knew she was taking on one of the most recognizable roles in movie history when she agreed to star in "Mary Poppins Returns."

She worked hard to make sure she left her own stamp on the larger-than-life character.

"This is my version of her, and so, I guess maybe that's what I'm proud of," Blunt said. "I took a big swing to make her my own as much as possible and thank God people seem to quite like it."
