LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The power of women was front and center at an annual luncheon Friday at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.

The event honors some of Hollywood's most philanthropic women, whose efforts have made an impact with their chosen charities.

Singer Kelly Clarkson was among those being celebrated, along with actresses Michelle Pfeiffer, Octavia Spencer and Priyanka Chopra.

The events of this past week involving producer Harvey Weinstein was top of mind on the red carpet. All the women, along with event emcee Judd Apatow, shared their feelings on how we can hopefully move forward in a positive way from these types of actions.

"I'm so amazed and so happy to be living in a world right now where I can commend these women who have come out there and stood up for each other," said Chopra. "I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them and say, you know what, we're not going to let this happen again."

"I think if we start looking in terms of equality and understanding that being an egalitarian means that you believe that a woman's worth is equal to a man," said Spencer.

"I have taken, not only what's happening this week in the news, but also in general, in the U.S. right now it's a very divisive nation," said Clarkson. "What we need to focus on is yes we do have differences, but there are a lot of things we have in common."

"I think that it will change," said Apatow. "The question is how much. What you want is an environment where people think if I harass women, my career will be like Harvey's."
