Jim Carrey's on-again, off-again girlfriend, Cathriona White, dies of apparent suicide

SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman identified by coroner's officials as Jim Carrey's on-again, off-again girlfriend was found dead in Sherman Oaks Monday night of an apparent suicide.

Cathriona White, 30, was found dead at a residence in the 15500 block of Briarwood Drive at about 8:40 p.m., Los Angeles County coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

Pills and a note were found near her body, law enforcement sources told Eyewitness News.

"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," Carrey said in a statement released on Tuesday morning. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."

The 53-year-old Carrey dated White, a makeup artist, briefly in 2012. They were photographed together again in May.

The coroner will perform an autopsy Wednesday to determine her exact cause of death.
