'Jurassic World' roars into theaters with leading man Chris Pratt
Chris Pratt stakes his claim on true leading man status with 'Jurassic World.'

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Actor Chris Pratt is on the verge of another big screen breakthrough. His first came last summer in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy." Now, he's poised to take the crown as king of summer movies with his starring role in "Jurassic World."

Pratt is disarmingly humble about his new Hollywood status.

"I do feel something is happening. I'm getting an opportunity to have access to really great material, stuff that people wouldn't have considered me for before," Pratt said.

"As an actor, I haven't had to wait tables in like 12 years. The volume button of my enthusiasm was turned on high at that point, so I can't feel any better than I've felt for 12 years," he added.

Before Pratt could support himself as an actor, he worked waiting tables.

"Was I a good waiter? I was the worst, the worst! But what I lacked in ability, I always made up for in charm and lies," Pratt said.

"Jurassic World" is rated PG-13 and is in theaters Friday, June 12.
