'Kung Fu Panda 3' kicks into theaters with Jack Black and Kate Hudson

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Jack Black returns to voice the lead panda, named "Po," in the sequel "Kung Fu Panda 3." He's joined by Kate Hudson, who is new to the franchise and learned much about voicing an animated film from her very animated co-star.

In fact, she got Black to rise to the challenge of animating himself into 10 different faces in 10 seconds.

"That was a terrifying challenge," joked Black during his interview with ABC7. "The Master Thespian!"

The two's camaraderie during the interview showed that the project was nothing but fun. Since Black and Hudson are both parents, they also enjoyed the fact that being part of family movies can make them part of the lives of many children.

"I've never done an animated film," Hudson said. "But you do see your kids, they take some of things from the film with them and they're so clever. I feel like the messages in these movies are quite beautiful and then when you hear your kids sort of emulate them or talk about them in some capacity, it's sweet."

"Kung Fu Panda 3" is rated PG and hits theaters on Jan. 29.

Disney is the parent company of ABC7.
