NEW YORK -- It is 1980-something and it is time for Thanksgiving on "The Goldbergs" on ABC!

This year, Beverly is having trouble with the fact that her children don't seem to want to stay home for the holiday and have their own things going on.

"This year my kids are all in high school and they want to leave the house for Thanksgiving and I'm just not having it!" said Wendi McLendon-Covey, of her character "Beverly" in a new interview.

Meantime, Uncle Marvin is back and bonding with Murray over their shared love of "Knight Rider." They want to make it to the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade to see K.I.T.T. in person.

This episode also marks the first one directed by "Back to the Future's" Lea Thompson.

She said that the dinner scenes were tough to film because of all of the strong personalities battling each other in the scenes.

"Yeah people have to eat the same mashed potatoes for five hours, it makes them pretty crabby, it's kind of gross," Thompson joked.

"And yet we keep eating them! We keep shoving them into our mouths!" McLendon-Covey said.

With that humor, it seems like it was an experience she'll never forget!

Don't miss episode "Ho-ly K.I.T.T." of "The Goldbergs" tonight at 8 p.m. EST on ABC!
