The ABC sitcom "The Mayor" promises laughs mixed with politics, friends and family.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Yvette Nicole Brown and Brandon Micheal Hall star in the new sitcom, "The Mayor."

Hall plays the role of Courtney Rose, an aspiring rapper who enters his hometown's mayoral race with the hopes of launching his fledgling music career. The 24-year-old newcomer thinks viewers will find the new comedy very relatable.

"People can turn on the tube and be like 'OK I remember this character, I'm investing in this,'" said Hall. "And at the same time we're gonna tackle some things that people have been asking questions about, social issues and family issues as well. So there's a lot of things that will be woven into the story."

Brown plays Courtney's mother, Dina Rose. And there's no question who's really running the show in this house!

"Every black mom is always in charge, 100 percent," Brown said with a laugh. "And a good baby goes, yup momma's in charge."

"The Mayor" debuts Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
