The actor, wrestler and social media icon was named People Magazine's 31st Sexiest Man Alive. The reveal was made on Good Morning America on Tuesday.
The Rock is known for his prolific acting career in films like San Andreas and the Fast and Furious series, as well as for his WWE career. His charisma and athleticism have earned him eight championships and the moniker "The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment."
The Rock's next project will be as the voice of the demi-god Maui in Disney's upcoming animated adventure film Moana, which hits theaters Nov. 23.
The superstar is also known for his softer side. He posts often on social media about cute or touching interactions with fans, such as when he teared up after meeting a young fan battling cancer whose life dream had been to meet him.
This ability to be just be himself is exactly what The Rock thinks fans admire in him, he told People. In fact, when asked why fans find him sexy, the star said it's because he doesn't try to be sexy.
"I think probably just not trying to be sexy and just being cool and confident in your movies," he said. "I think with a lot of my fans, I've gotten to a very, very cool place where there's a direct line between the man they know off-screen and the man they see on-screen."
The actor responded to the news with a series of humorous tweets. He replied to one fan who commented on his "abs of steel," "It's actually an "ab" of steel. Singular."
The Sexiest Man Alive issue of People Magazine hits newsstands Friday.
