MAR VISTA, Calif. (KABC) -- Actress Anne Heche was seriously injured Friday afternoon after crashing a vehicle into a Mar Vista home, igniting a fire, CNN and multiple media reports.

The crash was reported shortly before 11 a.m. at a two-story house in the 1800 block of South Walgrove Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Records from the California Department of Motor Vehicles and police sources confirm to ABC News the car involved in the incident, a Mini Cooper, is registered to Heche.

Witnesses reported seeing the driver and showed Eyewitness News photos of the woman believed to be the 53-year-old "Six Days Seven Nights" actress.

According to Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Erik Scott, firefighters arrived at the home to find a well-involved fire.

"When we arrived on scene, we had a solo vehicle that appeared to be driving at a high rate of speed on a perpendicular street and launched through the front yard, into the home," said Scott. "So deep ... about 30 feet in."

Scott said the woman believed to be Heche - who hasn't been officially identified by authorities - was trapped inside the car as flames from the vehicle began spreading to the home.

"She was talking to us at the time that we were able to pull her out, so that's a good sign," said Scott.

Heche was sent to the hospital in critical condition, according to media reports. Details surrounding the extent of her injuries remain unknown.

Video from AIR7 HD showed LAFD personnel using fire hoses to battle the flames on the roof and on the ground.

Meanwhile, video that has since gone viral online shows what appears to be the same Mini Cooper crash into a garage door at an apartment complex half a mile west. No injuries were reported in that incident.

Meanwhile, Scott said a woman was inside the home at the time of the fire, but wasn't injured.

He said she was in the back of the home, which likely saved her life. Roy Morgen, a neighbor, told ABC7 the woman ran inside his home for safety.

"Luckily, she didn't get hurt and neither did her two dogs," said Morgen. "She happened to be sitting with them. She was just in the house with us to tell us that the dogs were sitting with her when the car came flying through, and the car stopped like two feet away from where she was sitting."

CNN and Eyewitness News has contacted representatives of Heche for comment.

Heche first rose to fame on the soap opera "Another World," where she played the dual role of twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love from 1987 to 1991 and earned a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance.

She followed that with roles in films like "Donnie Brasco," "Six Days Seven Nights," and "Wag the Dog."

Her romantic relationship with Ellen DeGeneres in the late '90s resulted in intense media attention at the time, much to Heche's professional frustration.

In a 2021 interview with Page Six, Heche said she felt "blacklisted" after going public with their relationship.

"I didn't do a studio picture for 10 years," said Heche, who dated DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000.

Heche has appeared in numerous television series more recently, including "The Brave," "Quantico," and "Chicago P.D."

She has several acting projects currently in post-production, according to her IMDB profile.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
